These People Really Love Small Business
They are called "Exclusive Small Brand Buyers" and they might be your most loyal customers.
Hello! Here’s your SmallTLK Friday Focus. (AKA - Your weekly pep talk!) Hope this reminds you why you do what you do. Have a great weekend!
Consumers really LOVE small business: Competing against big brands can be a challenge for entrepreneurs like you, but you also may have an advantage. According to Nielsen IQ, there are some groups of buyers who are specifically seeking out small businesses and brands. They fall into two groups: “exclusive small brand buyers” and “unintentional small brand buyers”. Both have a preference for doing business with smaller companies. That gives you a major leg up on the competition. Your job is to find a way to connect with them and market your small business.
You’re not the only one skipping summer vacation: Feel like you’re working like a dog through the dog-days of summer? You’re not alone. Everyone is feeling the heat this summer and skipping the typical summer hours and relaxed mood of past years. According to consulting firm Korn Ferry, recession fears and a general feeling that employers have already extended workers enough flexibility, is driving the trend. In fact, 63% of employees say they are taking a shorter vacation this year. Maybe you could still fit in a few hours at the pool, though?
Great idea! Now get to work: Just a friendly reminder from Skinnygirl founder Bethenny Frankel: A great business idea is only the beginning. “I’ve really realized it’s those people that have that drive and that determination and that passion, that unstoppable nature — that’s really the true ingredient for success,” Frankel said. Even if you’re an idea machine - picking the best one and then focusing is what takes your idea from possible to profitable.
