You've Got a Friend (and That's a Big Deal)
As an entrepreneur, work friendships matter - even if they aren't with your co-workers.
Hello! Here’s your SmallTLK Friday Focus. (AKA - Your weekly pep talk!) Hope this reminds you why you do what you do. Have a great weekend!
For entrepreneurs, innovation never stops. No matter what kind of business you run, there’s always room for innovation. Want proof? Just when you thought coffee couldn’t get any fancier, the “third wave” of coffee innovation has dawned. In an effort to stand out from the competition, companies are now embracing tasting notes, regional characteristics and roasting techniques. It’s a reminder that entrepreneurial thinking (which you’re already good at) is the key to success no matter what business you’re in.
You’ve got a friend: Relationships matter at work. In fact, a recent New York Times article declares work friendships to be “life-defining” and, often, the key to being happy at work. That’s good news for small businesses where relationships are everything. Even if your business is too small for you to have a work “bestie,” your relationships with employees, customers and suppliers matter and enrich your life more than you might think.

You can help with climate change: Committing to help fight climate change isn’t just for big businesses. In fact, as a small business owner, you have the power to be flexible and change more quickly. Check out SME Climate Hub to calculate your carbon footprint and start making a plan to lessen it. If you pledge to reduce your carbon output, you will be counted in the United Nation’s Race to Zero campaign and partner with thousands of businesses and governments globally to reach net zero emissions by 2050. You can definitely do this.
That’s it for now. Make sure you take a few minutes for yourself this week. You deserve it.
